Facilitation

Empowerment of marginalised groups to have their voices heard has always been important to Maggie. Her first job out of university was working with the homeless in Boston for three years. She organised groups to watch political debates and register to vote. A participatory, facilitative style’ was important with village health groups when Maggie served as a health educator in the US Pease Corps In West Africa for two years. When Maggie served as CEO of an international children’s rights organisation, for almost 10 years, she embraced systems thinking and recognised the need to develop the organisation and invest in people. She organised Annual Consultation Meetings when everyone within the organisation met to discuss programmes development with parter representatives from Africa and Asia.

When Maggie left organisational life in 2013, she earned distinction in her coaching qualification with The Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC) that same year. Initially, she coached lots of other chief executives and senior managers and partners within firms; did lots of public speaking; and facilitated coach training for corporates with the AoEC. After having lost her husband to cancer, she facilitated ‘Living Well with Cancer’ workshops with Penny Bhron Cancer Care and is now the mindfulness teacher with More Horizons. In all of these roles, Maggie has ‘held a the space’ - seeking to garner knowledge from the room and pass on her own knowledge experientially rather than be the expert.

She is open to new ideas and contracts.
